About Data

Data is available since 1948, however 1948 - 1990 year figures are based on the Retail Price Index and represent the western part of Germany, Federal Republic of Germany and do not include GDR.

All data and calculations are based on the official Consumer Price Indexes published monthly by the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, Destatis.
Calculations between 1991 and 2015 are based on the 2010 based CPI.

Inflation data in Germany is published in two phases: in the end of the month the estimated figures are released and more detailed report is published in the middle of the next month.
