Two different indexes are calculated in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: local Consumer Prices Index (CPI) and Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), used by Eurostat agency to evaluate consumer prices of Euro Area and European Union. HICP is a broader and a more generic index and so local CPI allows calculating the inflation rate more accurately for a given country.

Consumer Prices are representing the prices that the end consumer has to pay for the product or service together with all taxes and fees and the indexes are calculated since 1996.
