Euro Area is a union of 19 European Union countries which adopted the Euro as their main and only currency.
Inflation in Eurozone is calculated based on the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), more specifically Monetary Union Index of Consumer Prices (MUICP) that covers all countries in Eurozone.
Consumer Prices are representing the prices that the end consumer has to pay for the product or service together with all taxes and fees and the indexes are calculated since 1996.

Inflation data for Eurozone is published in two phases: on the first few days of the month the flash estimate is released and more detailed report is published in the middle of the month, rounded to two decimal digits.
