In 2020 Japan ranks #1 in the world by yearly inflation rate.
Like in many other countries, inflation in Japan is calculated based on the Consumer Price Indexes (CPI) computed since 1946, end of the World War 2. However, a different methodology was used till 1970 and the numbers are available only 1970 going forward.
Consumer Prices are representing the prices that the end consumer has to pay for the product or service together with all taxes and fees.
